Job summary

Northcentral Electric Cooperative seeks a Distribution Engineer I in Olive Branch, MS to plan and design electric facilities for new members, line extensions, system improvements and reliability. You will perform staking, sizing calculations, and coordinate with developers to ensure safe, compliant service delivery.

You will also collect data, prepare plans for construction, obtain easements when required, and design SCADA and fiber communications for the distribution system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; electrical engineering preferred.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Driver's License.
• Good communication and general problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare staking sheets from staking instructions and charts.
• Perform calculations for sizing service and line conductors.
• Operate surveyor's transit for locating new electric lines.
• Meet with developers and contractors to determine service needs.
• Survey and prepare plans for line construction and system improvements.
• Determine material requirements for work orders and coordinate with other departments.
• Obtain right-of-way easements as needed for construction.
• Review system data and recommend improvements or solutions.
• Design electric facilities for new member extensions and SCADA/fiber systems.
• Prepare switching orders for load transfers and maintenance.
