Job summary

Entergy in Mississippi is seeking a qualified designer to support electric utility distribution projects for residential and commercial customers. The role involves meeting with customers, designing overhead and underground extensions, estimating costs, preparing drawings, and coordinating project construction.

The position requires a degree (or equivalent), distribution design experience, and the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to provide reliable service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (any discipline) required
• 2‑year Technical Associates degree required
• 2+ years Electric Utility field operational experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering)
• 1‑year Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience for Designer I
• 2 additional years Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience for Designer II/III
• Department Sr. Manager’s approval may substitute for requirements

Responsibilities

• Meet with customers to determine electric needs and design distribution facilities
• Manage multiple distribution projects including design, cost estimation, construction drawings, and coordination
• Lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with stakeholders
• Perform engineering calculations (load studies, fault current, voltage drop) to aid planning and projects
• Support local operations and ensure compliance with distribution design standards
• Assist with Right of Way permits and documents
• Participate in storm restoration and damage assessments as needed
