Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Designer to perform designed construction, relocation, and new business work within the Distribution function. The role focuses on safety, design standards, and regulatory compliance while serving residential, commercial, and industrial requests.

This on-site position at the Arnold Service Center in Arnold, PA requires strong communication, problem-solving, and software proficiency including Microsoft Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS.

Qualifications

• Two to four-year degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related discipline and 0-2 years related work experience is required.
• OR High School / equivalent and minimum 2 years related work experience is required. Related work experience includes utility design and knowledge of design practices, procedures, and methods used in construction.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) employment test
• Willingness to seek guidance and manage shifting priorities while maintaining safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
• Utilizing construction standards and engineering practices to complete overhead and underground designs to serve residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Supporting job progress through customer contacts, field work, and documentation.
• Facilitating billing for line extensions and relocation work, including non-routine scenarios.
• Assisting with outage management system follow-ups, inspections, and maintenance activities.
• Acquiring permits related to railroad, DOT, and municipality roads.
• Collaborating with customers to secure and document easements for extensions and relocations.
• Maintaining compliant records for reports and metrics.
• Traveling to various off-site locations as required.
• Providing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities.
