Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced distributed systems engineer to join the Analytical Database Platform team. You will help build and optimize a high-performance, scalable database stack using ClickHouse and related technologies.

You will add clusters, monitor performance, and remove bottlenecks while collaborating with internal teams and the open-source community to advance the platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in distributed systems and databases.
• Strong programming skills in Golang, Python, or C++.
• Solid understanding of SQL, DB internals, design and performance tuning.
• A CS foundation: algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, concurrency.
• Ability to collaborate across teams at Cloudflare.
• Nice to have ClickHouse, Salt/Terraform, and container tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new platform components for the Cloudflare Analytical Database Platform.
• Add more database clusters to handle growing data volumes.
• Monitor and maintain performance and reliability of existing clusters.
• Identify bottlenecks and optimize query performance and data ingestion.
• Collaborate with the ClickHouse community and upstream codebase.
• Work with other Cloudflare teams to meet data needs and enable analytics.
• Research new technologies to improve performance and scalability.
