Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced engineer to join the Analytics Database Platform team. You will contribute to a high-performance, scalable database platform powering real-time visibility for Cloudflare customers’ online properties.

You will develop platform components, expand clusters, and optimize query performance while collaborating with teams across Cloudflare to meet data needs and drive better outcomes for web performance and security.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in software development for distributed systems and databases.
• Strong programming skills (Golang, Python, C++) and understanding of software development best practices.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and database internals, including design, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Solid CS foundation: algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and concurrency.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate across teams at Cloudflare.
• Experience with ClickHouse is a plus.
• Experience with SALT or Terraform is a plus.
• Experience with Linux containers (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new components for the Cloudflare Analytics Database Platform.
• Add more database clusters to accommodate growing data volume from Cloudflare products.
• Monitor and maintain the performance and reliability of existing database platform clusters.
• Identify bottlenecks and optimize query performance and data ingestion processes.
• Collaborate with the ClickHouse open-source community to add features and functionality.
• Collaborate with other Cloudflare teams to meet data needs with data-driven solutions.
• Participate in developing the next generation of the database platform engine with new technologies.
