Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend-focused engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable APIs and services that power our text-to-speech platform. You will own the backend API landscape, driving performance, reliability, and seamless enterprise integrations.

Ideal candidates bring TS/Node expertise, strong cloud knowledge (GCP, with AWS/Azure as bonus), and comfort with containerized deployments and Kubernetes. This is a remote, full-time role in a fast-paced, async, impact-driven culture.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience with TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP; knowledge of AWS/Azure or other clouds.
• Ability to ideate and implement tasks by impact and urgency.
• Preferred: Docker/containerized deployments.
• Preferred: Deploying HA apps on Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs (public TTS API, internal APIs for Payment, Subscription, Auth, Consumption Tracking).
• Oversee and optimize the full backend API landscape for performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate on B2B solutions; tailor integrations for enterprise clients.
• Work with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience.
