Flagstar Bank is seeking a Special Assets Analyst in Hicksville, NY. The role supports the Special Assets team in day-to-day management of distressed commercial real estate/multifamily loans and C&I loans, focusing on preserving principal and preventing charge-offs while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The analyst will re-underwrite credits, develop financial models, and assist with workout strategies, reporting, and liaising with stakeholders to drive timely risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum experience required: 4+ Years within the Loan Workout/Special Assets field, preferably at an OCC regulated institution.
• Familiarity with various loan databases preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts market research and analysis to assist Special Assets Officers and Team Leads in remediation of distressed loans.
• Re-underwrite actionable credits focusing on borrower liquidity and cash flow sustainability.
• Develop, maintain, and update financial models to evaluate restructuring or recovery options.
• Support development, execution, and monitoring of workout strategies.
• Prepare detailed credit approval memos with financial analysis and risk evaluations.
• Review internal loan bookings and collateral positions.
• Interact with borrowers, advisors, and internal/external counsel.
• Maintain team files and records.
