Job summary

Flagstar Bank in New York, NY is seeking a Loan Workout/Special Assets Operations Analyst to support distressed commercial real estate and multifamily loans. You will work with the Special Assets team on reporting and litigation matters, focusing on preserving principal and reducing charge-offs.

Collaborating with Team Leads and Officers, you will analyze borrower liquidity, re-underwrite credits, and help develop recovery strategies in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in business, finance or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in loan workout or special assets, preferably OCC regulated.
• Familiarity with loan databases and strong financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research and assist remediation of distressed CRE/multifamily loans.
• Re-underwrite credits focusing on liquidity, cash flow and recovery prospects.
• Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate restructuring or workouts.
• Support workout strategies and monitor progress with officers and stakeholders.
• Liaise with borrowers, advisors, and internal/external counsel as needed.
• Prepare detailed credit memos with analysis, cash flow, and collateral reviews.
• Review loan bookings and monitor collateral positions.
• Maintain team files and records.
• Perform special projects and ensure regulatory compliance.
