Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking an optician to evaluate prescriptions, recommend lenses and frames, and assist clients in selecting eyewear. The role includes measuring pupillary distance, preparing work orders, and ensuring lenses are ground to spec.

You will also fit contacts and other optical goods, and assist with frame adjustments. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential, with ABO certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Experience in optical, optometry or ophthalmic field preferred.
• ABO certification preferred (if applicable)

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prescriptions in conjunction with client needs.
• Determine client lens prescription using lensometer or similar.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames to suit client needs.
• Measure pupillary distance and other ocular measurements.
• Prepare work orders for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses.
• Verify lenses meet specifications and adjust frames for fit.
• Sell and fit contact lenses and optical goods.
• Manage payments for services.
