Qualifications

• Sharp organizational, multitasking, and problem‑solving abilities.
• A calm head and sound judgment under pressure.
• Excellent customer service instincts and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Receive and schedule customer load requests.
• Enter and manage loads in the dispatch system.
• Assign loads to drivers based on location, equipment, hours of service, and efficiency.
• Stay in constant communication with drivers on assignments, route changes, delays, and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with Maintenance on equipment issues, breakdowns, and repairs.
• Keep customers updated on load status, delays, and scheduling changes.
• Troubleshoot day‑to‑day operational issues while delivering top‑notch customer service.
• Track driver availability and equipment utilization.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Safety, and Maintenance to keep daily operations running smoothly.

AJ Transport is looking for an organized, dependable Dispatcher to run the daily flow of freight in our South Boston, VA operation. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love solving problems on the fly, and know how to keep drivers, customers, and operations all moving in sync — this is your seat.

As the hub connecting customers, drivers, maintenance, and operations, you'll play a direct role in getting every load delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.

What You'll Do

What You Bring
