Job summary

Transdev in Lawrence, Kansas is hiring a Dispatcher to oversee road service through communication with Operators and to provide customer support to clients, with safety as a priority. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, dispatch experience, and may require a Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement.

Starting pay is $22.15 per hour, progressing to $29.60 after five years, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee road service by monitoring trip performance and on-time starts.
  • Provide customer support for trips, handling no-shows and cancellations.
  • Manage emergencies and liaise with carriers and emergency services.
  • Review daily route performance and respond to incidents affecting service.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Dispatcher

Transdev in Lawrence, Kansas is hiring a Dispatcher. The Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to the clients. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Transdev is proud to offer:
  • $22.15 - $29.60
  • (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement PayScale)
  • Starting pay $22.15 with progression to $29.60 after 5 years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee road service assigned carriers by tracking trip performance measures, route begin on time, performance, incidents, etc.
  • Provide customer support by responding to questions and concerns regarding customer trips including no shows, cancellations and missed trips.
  • Manage emergency situations for vehicle operators, act as liaison between the carrier and emergency services.
  • Manage daily service by reviewing route performance and proactively responding to situations that impact customer service.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED; Technical Degree preferred.
  • 1 year of customer service, dispatch experience preferred
  • Must have or be willing to get Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
  • Excellent phone demeanor and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, judgment and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, Internet software, e‑mail, and/or database software preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be able to read a map and possess knowledge of the service area.
  • Must be hospitable, guest/customer service oriented, and be willing to serve the needs of passengers.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
