Job summary

Transdev in Boston is hiring a Dispatcher to oversee road service, coordinate with operators, and provide customer support with a strong emphasis on safety. The role includes handling performance metrics, responding to inquiries, and supporting drivers in daily operations.

Two weeks vacation, sick days, holidays, and standard benefits are offered, along with a 401(k) and medical coverage. The position is full-time, in-person with no remote work, and requires a high school diploma and MS Office

• Maintain department reports and communication tools.
• Support employees and drivers with internal and external requests.
• Assist Dispatch Manager with resolving problems and requests.
• Prioritize calls based on importance and urgency.
• Maintain contact with drivers to communicate updates and delays.
• Learn all dispatch functions, including Radio and window operations.
• Adhere to Transdev SOP for the role.

Dispatcher

Transdev is hiring a Dispatcher for Boston Public Schools. The Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to the clients. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee road service and trip performance measures, i.e. route start time, on-time performance, incidents
• Respond to customer and driver questions and concerns about no shows, cancellations, and missed trips.
• Manage vehicle operator emergency situations & escalated calls.
• Manage department reports and other communication tools.
• Support employees and drivers with internal and external requests.

• Ability to learn all dispatch functions, including Radio & window.
• Adhering to all Transdev SOP for the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
• High level of problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address service concerns proactively.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
• Conduct oral and written presentations on behalf of the organization.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
