Job Overview

Our Material Handling group is seeking a full‑time Service Dispatcher at the Montgomery, IL branch. This position is first shift, Monday to Friday, and offers hourly pay ranging between $20 and $26 based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch technicians to handle service requests and preventive maintenance (PM)
• Take, record and prioritize customer calls for service requests
• Compile and complete customer summary invoicing
• Organize and file paperwork for the department
• Maintain technician time log
• Answer internal and customer service calls
• Weekly payroll time card entry
• Open and close work orders, including accurately recording story lines into each order
• Help with invoicing and accounts receivable assistance
• Run and monitor PM throughout the month
• Track PM reports and audit completed work for weekly meetings
• Schedule PM for technicians
• Provide WIP assistance to dispatch proper technician to customers
• Monitor and assign fleet service calls
• Monitor fleetmatics to ensure technicians are on time at field accounts
• Generate reports (PM completed, overtime, non‑productive clocking, first start tracking, tracker audits)
• Assist technicians with technical data
• Incorporate Alta's guiding principles into daily activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Previous dispatching, warranty administrative, or mechanical experience is highly preferred
• Strong technical knowledge base to answer technician questions
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; previous ERP experience is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time‑management skills and ability to communicate with all levels of coworkers and customers
• Language skills – intermediate reading, writing and speaking in safety and maintenance documentation
• Mathematical skills – basic proficiency with arithmetic and measurements using U.S. units
• Reasoning ability – basic application of common sense to follow detailed instructions and address problems in standardized situations

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly sit, use hands, talk and hear; frequent reaching with hands; occasional standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
• No special vision requirements
• Regularly lift up to 10 pounds; frequently lift up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
