Job summary

Roadtex Transportation is hiring a Dispatcher to plan, coordinate, and execute daily transportation operations. You’ll route plan, track shipments, and communicate with carriers and schedulers to ensure timely deliveries.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in dispatch/logistics, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with MS Office and a TMS. Flexibility for on-call work may be required to maintain service levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or transportation planning or equivalent.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and dispatch or transportation management systems (TMS).
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to make quick, sound decisions and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily and next-day routes to optimize delivery efficiency and meet customer commitments.
• Track and trace trips throughout the day, ensuring on-time performance and addressing any service delays.
• Communicate with 3rd-party carriers and internal teams to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate closely with schedulers to align route plans with customer requirements and capacity availability.
• Monitor driver progress and provide real-time updates to operations and customer service teams.
• Identify and resolve potential route conflicts, service issues, or delays proactively.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records and route data for reporting and analysis.
• Apply critical thinking to adjust plans as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Position Overview:

The Dispatcher is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing daily transportation operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods. This role involves route planning, real-time tracking of shipments, and effective communication with carriers, drivers, and schedulers.
