Job summary

White Cap in Birmingham, AL is hiring a Dispatch Manager to lead our delivery and dispatch teams on site. You will recruit, hire, and manage drivers and dispatchers, ensure safe loading of trucks, and coordinate routing to meet daily delivery commitments.

This role collaborates with the Warehouse and Inside Sales teams to optimize operations, maintain fleet health, and deliver reliable service across the branch area.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in logistics or related field.
• Prior supervisory experience.
• Experience with DOT regulations and driver safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Manages and hires all Delivery Drivers and Dispatchers.
• Ensures delivery trucks are loaded and operated safely.
• Routes drivers to meet planned and unplanned deliveries.
• Ensures vehicle fleet is properly maintained.
• Minimizes turn-around times through supervision of drivers.
• Works with Warehouse Manager on integration of delivery and warehouse operations.
• Resolves delivery issues with Inside Sales and Account Managers.
• Develops knowledge of branch delivery area geography.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Dispatch Manager Responsibilities

• Manages, recruits, and hires all Delivery Drivers and Dispatchers.
• Ensures delivery trucks are loaded and operated in compliance with all safety standards.
• Ensures Drivers are routed effectively to meet planned and unplanned delivery commitments.
• Ensures vehicle fleet is properly maintained.
• Minimizes turn-around times through direct supervision of Drivers.
• Works with Warehouse Manager to ensure seamless integration of Delivery and Warehouse operations and proper inventory controls.
• Works closely with Inside Sales and Account Managers to resolve delivery issues, reroute trucks and make unplanned vendor pickups.
• Develops and maintains expert knowledge of the branch delivery area geography.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Generally has 7+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior supervisory experience
• Experience with routing software.
• Experience with DOT regulations and driver safety programs.
