Job summary

The Seattle Times is seeking a reliable Dispatch-Utility Driver to support our Operations team. The role involves timely transportation of products, interoffice mail, and supplies between Seattle Times locations and regional post offices.

The position requires driving a box truck most of the time with attention to safety, logs, and vehicle upkeep. Pre-employment checks apply and this is a union-represented position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Washington State driver's license (Class D) is required.
• Experience driving a box truck is required.
• Clean driving record for the past three years with no at-fault accidents; ability and willingness to provide a driving abstract.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and external vendors.
• Ability to safely use loading equipment such as pallet jacks and lift gates.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver completed products to locations and post offices.
• Collect and distribute interoffice mail daily.
• Verify postage at post offices and deliver to locations.
• Retrieve employee paychecks biweekly and deliver to Kent Printing Facility.
• Monitor email for delivery requests and complete them promptly.
• Stage the box truck and load/unload deliveries with pallet jack and lift gate.
• Pick up supplies from the post office as needed.
• Maintain a daily log of stops and miles for all company vehicles.
• Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned and maintained; report maintenance needs.
• Submit credit card receipts through the system.
• Other duties as assigned.
