Job summary

The Seattle Times is seeking a part-time Dispatch-Utility Driver to join our Operations team. This role transports completed products, mail, packages, and interoffice materials between Seattle locations and regional post offices, maintaining logs and ensuring vehicles are well-maintained.

Hours are 18–24 per week, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mon/Wed/Fri, with some route-based variability. Requires a valid WA license, box truck experience, and strong reliability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license (Class D).
  • Experience driving a box truck.
  • Clean driving record for the past three years with no at-fault accidents; ability to provide driving abstract.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and external vendors.
  • Ability to safely use loading equipment such as pallet jacks and lift gates.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver completed products between company locations and post offices as needed.
  • Collect and distribute interoffice mail and materials daily.
  • Retrieve employee paychecks biweekly and deliver to Kent facility.
  • Monitor email for delivery requests and complete them promptly.
  • Stage the box truck and safely load/unload deliveries with pallet jack and lift gate.
