Job summary

Tornado Bus Company in Dallas, TX is seeking a Dispatch Coordinator to ensure safe, efficient scheduling and dispatch of motor coach drivers. The role requires coordinating routes, monitoring driver compliance, and maintaining trip documentation in accordance with FMCSA rules.

The position also involves communicating weather and traffic conditions and supporting training with the training department. The ideal candidate has bilingual English/Spanish skills, strong problem-solving and teamwork

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Good communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of job-related experience preferred.
• FMCSA 49 CFR knowledge required.
• Valid Class 1 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and dispatch drivers as required by passenger flow.
• Assist field staff with coordination of routes.
• Manage driver compliance - safety policies, time sheets, logbooks, etc.
• Assist management to ensure transportation compliance with FMCSA rules.
• Assist with permits and vehicle documentation.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules and communicate with the shop.
• Track and communicate GPS location of units and drivers.
• Record departure/arrival times for runs to terminals.
• Notify Dispatch Manager of driver non-compliance or schedule issues.
• Support driver training with Training Department.
• Monitor weather and traffic conditions and inform drivers.
• Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE JOB

This position is responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable scheduling and dispatching of Motor Coach Drivers. Dispatch Coordinators are to supervise and report any drivers for not following Company safety policies as well as those states under FMCSA 49 CFR. In certain locations the Dispatch Coordinator is responsible for also auditing trip documentation with a logbook and expense receipts upon driver's arrivals and departures.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate and dispatch drivers as required by passenger flow.
• Assist field staff with coordination of routes.
• Manage driver compliance - housekeeping, daily inspection policies, time sheets, logbooks, etc.
• Assist management to ensure transportation compliance and associated rules and regulations are being adhered to
• Assist with permits and vehicles as required
• Manage and communicate vehicle issues with the Maintenance shop
• Communication on maintenance schedules with shop management
• Maintenance of files associated with drivers and transportation compliance.
• Maximize utilization of drivers and internal equipment.
• Coordinate and track location of units and drivers utilizing GPS system
• Communicate and record departure/arrival times to all runs to the corresponding terminals
• Communicate driver issues to the Dispatch Manager such as driver not complying with assignments or itinerary.
• Assist in coordinating driver training with the training department.
• Monitor and communicate to drivers of weather and traffic conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED

• 2 years of job-related experience
• Knowledgeable FMCSA 49 CFR. (regulations carrier)
• Valid Driver's License - Class 1
