Job description

A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass, and silverware, ensuring the highest standards of sanitation. He/she also assists kitchen staff in maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas, including cleaning equipment, utensils, and workspaces. Additionally, the Steward supports proper food storage and rotation.

Responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well under stress in high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure availability of clean dishes by bussing tables, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas. Prepare dining and kitchen areas for the next shift by cleaning and restocking.
  • Clean kitchen equipment such as coffee makers, pots, pans, and mixers. Unload and store deliveries. Sweep and mop floors, especially after spills or breakages.
  • Take out trash and rinse garbage cans. Support other staff as needed. Report any kitchen accidents or food safety violations.
