Scioto Country Club is seeking a Kitchen Steward / Dishwasher to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, ensuring all dishware and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. This role supports the culinary team by providing a steady supply of clean dishes and tools to keep service flowing smoothly.

The position requires attention to health and safety standards, ability to work evenings and weekends, and a collaborative mindset to support a high-performing kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machines and manually wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
• Sort and stack clean dishes and kitchenware for easy access by staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and work surfaces through cleaning tasks.
• Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables according to health regulations.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and restocking when needed.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor promptly.

About the Role:

The Kitchen Steward / Dishwasher plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen environment, ensuring that all dishware, utensils, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. This position supports the culinary team by providing a steady supply of clean dishes and tools, which is essential for smooth kitchen operations and timely food service. The role requires attention to detail to uphold health and safety standards, preventing contamination and promoting a hygienic workspace. Additionally, the Kitchen Steward / Dishwasher assists with general kitchen maintenance tasks, such as waste disposal and cleaning kitchen floors and surfaces. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall efficiency and success of the food service operation by fostering a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a kitchen steward or dishwasher role within a restaurant or food service setting.
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and cleaning procedures.
• Familiarity with food safety regulations such as ServSafe or equivalent certifications.
• Physical stamina to lift heavy kitchenware and perform manual cleaning tasks.
• Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen and service staff.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and work surfaces by sweeping, mopping, and wiping down as needed.
• Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks and restocking supplies when necessary.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
