Job summary

Valeo is seeking a Discipline Senior Engineer - Product Safety in Troy, MI to define and review automotive safety requirements based on customer needs and internal standards; lead creation of conformity matrices and traceability metrics.

You will analyze logical and physical risks, architect designs that detect failures, transition to safe states, and manage environmental uncertainty without compromising safety.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechatronics/Mechanical/Electronics/Computer or related field with 4+ years of automotive system safety experience.
• Experience leading engineering projects involving functional safety, ADAS and/or sensors.
• Proficient in CAN, Automotive Ethernet, ASPICE and ISO 26262 processes.

Responsibilities

• Define and review automotive safety requirements based on customer needs and internal standards.
• Lead creation of conformity matrices and traceability metrics.
• Analyze logical and physical risks and architect safe-state transitions.
• Oversee test plans, Development Interface Agreements, safety assessments and audits.

Discipline Senior Engineer - Product Safety for Troy, MI to define & review automotive safety requirements based on customer needs & internal standards; lead creation of conformity matrices & traceability metrics; analyze logical & physical risks; architect & review system designs that detect failures & transition to safe states, manage environmental uncertainty without compromising safety & contain energy to mitigate fire or shock; define & oversee test plans; negotiate & define Development Interface Agreements; prevent risks; build safety cases & lead project teams through safety assessments & audits. Requires Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronics, Computer or Software Engineering or closely-related & 4 yrs experience in an automotive system development position leading engineering projects involving functional safety, ADAS and/or automotive sensors; performing QRQC; participating in IP protection; coaching junior engineers; performing FMEAs; and using CAN and/or Automotive Ethernet communication protocols, ASPICE & ISO26262.
