Job summary

DCFS in Baton Rouge, Louisiana seeks a Human Resources Analyst A/B/C or Specialist (Discipline) to advise managers on documentation and handle complex disciplinary matters, including appeals. The role is onsite with a standard 8:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday schedule and potential for probationary or longer appointments.

Salary ranges from USD 3,501 to 6,136 per month. Required are three years of HR experience or six years in any field, plus a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Three years of human resources experience, or six years of full-time experience in any field.
• A bachelor’s degree.
• For experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year toward the six years of full-time work experience in any field.
• The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, substituting for up to four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

• Counsel managers and supervisors on documenting substandard performance and behavior.
• Review drafts of disciplinary letters and recommend changes.
• Consult with legal staff as needed in discipline-related work.
• Conduct very complex or sensitive administrative and disciplinary investigations.
• Draft non-disciplinary removal letters.
• Prepare suspension pending investigation letters and monitor leave entries.
• Prepare documentation for Civil Service Appeals and advise or witness in appeal hearings.
• Provide guidance to employees and management staff regarding the grievance process.
• Process requests for information.
• Develop discipline training materials and conduct training sessions.
