Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program

Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Pharmacy Transition Specialist to coordinate discharge medications, collaborate with care teams, and ensure smooth handoffs for improved patient outcomes. The role involves organizing, filling, and delivering medications while supporting quality improvement and patient experience.

The position offers a full-time onsite schedule with a rotating shift, and eligibility for the Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program—$5,000 over two years, paid at milestones.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician Program (or equivalent).
• Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients to obtain permission to fill discharge medications and counsel as needed.
• Deliver discharge medications in a timely manner.
• Procure patient information and prescriptions prior to discharge.
• Coordinate with clinical care team to ensure medications are delivered without delaying discharge.
• Assist pharmacist with filling and dispensing patient prescriptions.
• Support flexible assignments as patient and hospital discharge needs change.
• Maintain professional image and appropriate behavior.
