Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program

Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks a Pharmacy Transition Specialist to organize and deliver discharge medications, coordinate with the care team, and ensure smooth hand-offs to improve patient health outcomes.

The role involves a nine-month technician program qualification, NC licensure requirements, and an incentive program of $5,000 paid over two years; on-site, full-time schedule with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician Program (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
• Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• Two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician if only a HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients to obtain permission to fill discharge medications and counsel when needed.
• Deliver discharge medications in a timely manner.
• Procure all patient's information and prescriptions prior to discharge.
• Coordinate with clinical care team to ensure medications are delivered without delaying discharge.
• Assist pharmacist with filling and dispensing prescriptions.
• Demonstrate flexibility and autonomy as discharge needs change.
• Maintain professional image and quality in interactions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and patient experience.
