Job summary

UNC Health Care's Campus Health Pharmacy and Student Stores Pharmacy in Chapel Hill seeks a Pharmacy Technician II PD to support the pharmacist by processing prescriptions, preparing medications, and handling inventory and customer service on-site.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and compliant with the NC Board of Pharmacy with registration required; CPhT or ExCPT preferred. This is a 40-hour day shift on-site position with an incentive program for commitment.

Qualifications

• Education: None required as long as other position qualifications are met.
• Licensure/Certification: Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy; CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA; PharmD enrollment may adjust requirements.
• Professional experience: Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives and accurately transcribes orders from prescribers under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Assists with training of new employees in job-specific functions.
• Assists with Medication Therapy Management, Medsync, and other clinical outreach programs.
• Selects and prepares medications as authorized by a physician, under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Prepares medications for pick-up, delivery or shipping; manages stock and credits.
• Manages patient payments and assists with prior authorizations and patient assistance when needed.
• Responds to customer requests for pharmacy services that do not require pharmacist judgment.
• Operates automated dispensing technology to provide correct medications per orders.
• Manages inventory—orders, restocks, and rotates stock.
• Contributes to process improvement projects.
