Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Disaster Workforce Engagement Manager to lead and support teams of trained volunteers, building a robust volunteer workforce and ensuring readiness for disaster response in the region.

You will collaborate with volunteer services staff to energize engagement, deploy to disasters as needed, and advance programs that reflect community needs and inclusive practices while upholding the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience with building, mobilizing, leading, and developing volunteer teams to execute a social services program or service.
• Travel: A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming as well as ensure disaster cycle services are delivered in a rapid, accessible, and equitable manner, both culturally and linguistically, to meet the urgent, disaster-caused needs of our clients, with a focus on frontline communities.
• Support the Program: Assist with the successful implementation of either specific disaster cycle services program activities, or a specific disaster cycle services function within an assigned geographic area.
• Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers who are the primary workforce, and representative of the communities they serve, both culturally and linguistically.
