Job summary

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is seeking a Disaster Assistance Program Specialist I to support federal and state disaster programs within the Recovery Branch.

Under supervision, you will handle grants management, public assistance, research, analysis and documentation, and act as the primary contact for closing assigned disaster projects and applications. You must meet regulatory deadlines in a demanding, changing environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FEMA’s Public Assistance program and funding mechanisms.
• Familiarity with construction methods, building codes, and mitigation techniques.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be accountable and responsible.
• Use creativity and innovation to resolve issues.
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and databases; willing to learn new tools.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to present information clearly.
