Job summary

The American Red Cross South Florida Region in Sarasota, FL is seeking a Community Disaster Program Specialist to guide and support teams of trained volunteers in delivering care during disasters.

You will build robust volunteer engagement, work with staff and partners to prepare communities for emergencies and deploy on disaster operations at least once yearly. A Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• A current, valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team for disaster cycle services.
• Support the Program: Assist with disaster cycle services activities in a geographic area.
• Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers representing communities served.
• Engage Community: Prepare and mobilize communities and partners for disasters.
• Manage in a Matrix: Meet targets for volunteer engagement and Disaster Action Team response.
• Know Your Communities: Serve as local contact for partners and communities.
• Partner with local organizations to support frontline communities and resiliency.
• Ready to Respond: Deploy in disaster operations after training requirements.
