Job summary

The American Red Cross South Florida Region in Sarasota, FL, seeks a Community Disaster Program Specialist to guide and support teams of trained volunteers delivering comfort and care during disasters.

You will build volunteer engagement, ensure culturally and linguistically accessible services, and partner with local organizations to strengthen community resilience. A bachelor's degree and 3 years' related experience are required; bilingual status is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• A current, valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for disaster cycle services.
• Support the Program: assist with successful implementation of disaster services activities.
• Mission Capacity Building: engage disaster volunteers representative of the communities served.
• Engage Community: help prepare and mobilize communities and partners for disasters.
• Manage in a Matrix: meet targets for volunteer engagement and response tasks.
• Know Your Communities: act as local contact for partners and leaders.
• Ready to Respond: participate in disaster response operations after training.
