Job summary

disAbility Cornwall & Isles of Scilly is recruiting an Adviser to provide accessible, impartial information and rights‑based advice to disabled people, carers and families. You will help clients understand their rights, explore options, complete forms, and refer to specialist services as needed.

Advice will be offered by phone, email, video call, and in person, with a focus on independent living and keeping accurate records within our user-led organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in advice or rights-based roles.
• Knowledge of welfare entitlements, especially for disabled people and carers.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Offer advice and support via phone, email, and video calls, on Money & Welfare Entitlements.
• Advise on Housing & Home Environment and Rights & Discrimination.
• Refer clients to internal and external services, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
• Develop and maintain accessible information resources for clients and staff.
• Stay informed about relevant benefits, legislation, and training opportunities.
• Maintain accurate client records on our case management system and follow up to ensure positive outcomes.
