Job summary

Betty Hardwick Center in Abilene, TX seeks a Benefits Counselor to assist consumers in applying for federal/state benefits, including SSI, SSDI, QMB, SLMB and Medicaid. You will interview, verify and document case data, complete forms, file appeals and coordinate with external agencies.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma (some college preferred) and experience in consumer benefits; travel for training is required and strong computer skills are needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
• High school diploma required; some college preferred or equivalent experience.
• Strong organizational and data-entry abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers in applying for SSI, SSDI, QMB, SLMB and Medicaid.
• Interview, verify and document case data; file appeals as needed.
• Represent consumers to external agencies such as SSA and DDS.
• Travel to assigned sites for work assignments and training as required.
