Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is seeking a Director of Workforce to lead strategic and operational efforts across workforce development, recruitment, and employee experience. This role partners with senior leaders to translate priorities into scalable programs and measurable results.

The Director will build high-performance teams, manage budgets and partnerships, and drive culture and engagement across multiple facilities with a focus on retention and development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Relevant professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute workforce strategies aligned with organizational priorities, operational needs, culture, and long-term workforce objectives.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for assigned workforce functions, programs, teams, budgets, partnerships, and resources.
• Partner with executive and operational leaders to identify workforce needs, risks, and opportunities and implement solutions that produce measurable results.
• Establish performance expectations, key performance indicators, and accountability measures for assigned workforce functions.
• Lead the implementation, standardization, and continuous improvement of workforce programs and processes across the organization.
• Develop high-performing teams through clear expectations, coaching, accountability, and a strong focus on execution.
• Oversee assigned budgets, grants, vendors, contracts, and partnerships to ensure effectiveness and return on investment.
• Provide senior leadership with workforce performance updates, emerging trends, risks, and strategic recommendations.
