Job summary

City of Boston is seeking a Director, Outreach and Policy to develop and execute outreach strategies for Veterans’ Services, and to directly manage outreach activities that promote veteran engagement and military affairs.

You will supervise the Community Relations staff, coordinate with federal, state, and city partners, and shape advocacy plans to support housing, employment, and healthcare needs of veterans and their families.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of management and community relations experience with at least 2 years in supervision
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Ability to interact professionally with the public and government agencies
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office proficiency
• Ability to plan, organize, and participate in outreach events; analyze and present data
• Bilingual is a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop outreach strategies with senior management to promote veteran services
• Supervise the Community Relations staff
• Coordinate with policy makers and agencies on outreach and policy initiatives
• Lead outreach campaigns and organize events for veterans and families
• Collaborate with nonprofits and government partners to align with OVS goals
• Serve as liaison to legislators on matters affecting veterans' services
