Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) in Phoenix seeks a Director of Project Delivery New Generation to lead mid- to late-stage execution of the generation capital program. You will oversee EPC/EPCM procurement, construction, commissioning and handoff, managing a diversified portfolio including utility-scale solar, storage, and gas-fired plants.

This role operates within APS governance, driving risk, schedule and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Four-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or Project Management from an accredited college/university.
• 12 years of progressive experience in large capital project delivery (EPC or EPCM), with at least five years in a program/portfolio supervisory role.
• In lieu of a bachelor's, combination of coursework and/or related experience totaling 16 years.
• Experience managing EPC/EPCM contracts with individual project values >$100M.
• Proven track record delivering utility-scale generation or large industrial facilities from NTP through commercial operation.

Responsibilities

• Establishes zero-incident safety culture across sites; enforces APS safety standards and contract requirements; conducts reviews and root-cause analysis.
• Leads procurement, negotiation, award and administration of EPC/EPCM contracts; defines contracting approaches and supports bid evaluations.
• Directs construction execution across multiple generation projects; oversees QA, safety, commissioning and issue resolution.
• Partners with Supply Chain to define portfolio requirements, vendor prequalification, risk positions and logistics sequencing; coordinates with contracts to protect delivery schedule and cost objectives.
• Receives projects at gate transitions; provides performance data for portfolio cost/schedule reporting; escalates variances beyond thresholds.
• Ensures compliance with federal/state/local requirements including NERC/WECC standards and interconnection milestones.
