Job summary

FCCI is seeking an experienced Underwriting Director to acquire and retain profitable property and casualty accounts with Mid-Atlantic agency partners. The role manages an underwriting team and directs underwriting for the Glen Allen, VA office, balancing production, profitability, retention and service objectives.

The position is hybrid, based in Glen Allen, VA, with emphasis on leadership, relationship building within the independent agency system and hands-on underwriting expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with relevant work experience.
• Minimum of eight years commercial, multi-line P&C marketing and underwriting experience, including workers’ compensation.
• Three years management experience leading an Underwriting team.
• Relevant experience managing and developing underwriting staff in the independent agency system.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and retain profitable property and casualty accounts with Mid-Atlantic agency partners.
• Manage and direct the underwriting function for the Georgia Branch Office, aligning with regional goals.
• Oversee production, profitability, retention and policyholder service; ensure compliant underwriting practices.
• This is a hybrid role based in the Mid-Atlantic office in Glen Allen, VA.

Currently seeking an experienced Underwriting Director who will be responsible for acquiring and retaining profitable property and casualty accounts with our Mid-Atlantic agency partners. The selected candidate will manage an underwriting team and plan, direct and oversee the Underwriting function for the Georgia Branch Office in accordance with corporate and regional goals for production, profitability, retention and policyholder service. This position is a hybrid role in our Mid-Atlantic office in Glen Allen, VA.

The salary range for this position is $141,236-$217,503 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Minimum of eight years commercial, multi-line, P&C marketing and underwriting experience, including workers’ compensation
• Three years management experience leading an Underwriting team
• Relevant experience managing and developing the skills of commercial underwriting staff
• Excellent knowledge of the independent agency system
• Hands-on underwriting technical experience
• Excellent relationship building skills
