Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Director - Underground (UG) Transmission Engineering in San Diego, CA, to lead a design and engineering team on complex UG transmission projects. You will manage multiple projects, develop construction packages, and act as the client technical lead while mentoring junior staff.

The role emphasizes leadership, client relationships, and delivering safe, reliable, constructible, and efficient

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil/Structural/Electrical/Mechanical engineering.
• 8+ years in underground transmission line design.
• Strong communication and leadership with client-facing experience.
• P.E. license in CA desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as the responsible engineer and client point of contact for power delivery projects.
• Lead a team of 12-15 engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Prepare and submit technical proposals to win new work.
• Develop UG Plan & Profile and construction packages.
• Review, seal, and QA/QC technical calculations and drawings.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
