Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Director of Transmission Engineering (Overhead) for a remote position. The role leads planning, design, and execution of transmission line projects, directing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and aligning delivery with NV5's strategic goals.

The successful candidate will manage budgets, schedules, and resources, act as engineer of record, work with clients and partners, and drive innovation in transmission system design while expanding NV5's

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required (B.S. or higher).
• 12+ years in electric utility engineering or management for HV projects.
• PE license mandatory; CA license a plus.
• Experience leading a team to deliver transmission construction-ready designs.
• Knowledge of ANSI, ASTM, NEC, NESC and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as the engineer of record and client point of contact for power delivery projects.
• Lead a team of 6-10 direct reports and an extended team of 30-40 resources including engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Assist in marketing, promotion and business development efforts to retain and add national clients.
• Prepare, review, and P.E. seal technical calculation reports and construction documents.
• Assist in routing and design of transmission lines using industry-standard tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Manage multiple projects and provide engineering QA/QC.
• Travel to client sites as needed.
• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of transmission projects within budgets.
