Job description

The hiring range for this role is:

$155,000.00 - $175,000.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the hiring range, and this range may be modified in the future. A candidate's position within the range may depend on factors such as competencies, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and organizational needs.

This job is also eligible for an annual bonus incentive pay.

About Synergie Medication Collective

Synergie is a new medication contracting organization founded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield affiliated companies, focused on improving access and affordability to costly medical benefit drugs administered in clinical settings for nearly 100 million Americans.

Position Overview

The Trade Client Strategy Director liaises with participants, manages clinical policies, and supports compliance with manufacturer contracts, implementing trade strategies and initiatives, and collaborating with the Client Relations team for trade-related inquiries. This includes managing drug policies, cross-benefit management, and rebate qualification for manufacturer contracts. The role involves establishing partnerships with internal teams to drive rebate programs and serving as the primary trade contact for participant-facing activities, supporting clinical decision-making to ensure contract compliance.

Primary Job Functions
  1. Consult with Client Relations on trade inquiries, initiatives, and opportunities with participants.
  2. Understand the impact of rebate and formulary strategies and communicate effectively with health plan participants.
  3. Possess knowledge of PBM operations, drug, and utilization management strategies.
  4. Interpret pharmaceutical manufacturer drug contracts and align terms with policies.
  5. Manage clinical policies to ensure manufacturer contract compliance.
  6. Collaborate with the Client Relations team on trade inquiries.
Stakeholder Partnerships
  • Analytics Team: Collaborate on drug trends, utilization data, and policy decisions.
  • Client Relations: Serve as the primary contact for participant questions on trade initiatives and contracts.
  • Clinical Team: Review clinical data and policy requirements.
  • Invoicing Team: Support with clinical policies and manufacturer inquiries.
  • Product Team: Provide support for manufacturer-related contracts including cell and gene therapies.
Education, Experience, and Certification
  • Pharmacy degree and Pharm D. preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant healthcare, PBM, or pharmaceutical contracting experience.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to apply clinical data to financial value.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Pharmacy residency or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with PBM industry, Medicaid, Medicare, and health plans.
  • Experience with contract language and risk mitigation.

Travel up to 10%. Work is generally remote.
