Job description

The hiring range for this role is:

$155,000.00 - $175,000.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the hiring range, and this range may also be modified in the future. A candidate's position within the range may depend on factors such as competencies, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual bonus in incentive pay.

Synergie Medication Collective is a new organization founded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield affiliates, focusing on improving affordability and access to costly medical benefit drugs for nearly 100 million Americans. The Trade Client Strategy Director liaises with participants, manages clinical policies to comply with manufacturer contracts, implements trade strategies, and collaborates with the Client Relations team for trade inquiries. This role involves establishing partnerships with internal teams to drive rebate programs and supporting clinical decision-making at the participant level.

Primary Job Functions
  1. Consult with Client Relations team on trade inquiries, initiatives, and opportunities with participants.
  2. Understand the downstream impact of rebate and formulary strategies and communicate effectively with health plan participants.
  3. Have working knowledge of PBM operations, drug, and utilization management strategy and policy implementation.
  4. Interpret pharmaceutical manufacturer drug contracts and translate terms into utilization management policies.
  5. Manage medical and pharmacy clinical policies to ensure manufacturer contract compliance.
  6. Support the Client Relations team for trade-related inquiries.
Stakeholder Partnerships
  • Analytics Team: Collaborate on drug trends, utilization data, and policy decisions.
  • Client Relations: Serve as the primary contact for participant questions on trade initiatives and contracts.
  • Clinical Team: Review clinical data and policy requirements.
  • Invoicing Team: Maintain policy library and support manufacturer inquiries.
  • Product Team: Provide medical policy support for manufacturer contracts.
Education, Experience, and Certification
  • Pharmacy degree and Pharm D. preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in healthcare, PBM, utilization management, pharmaceutical contracting, client relations, or analytics.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Application of clinical data to drive financial value.
  • Strong business and financial skills, proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Pharmacy residency or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with PBM industry, Medicaid, Medicare, and health plans.
  • Understanding of contract language and risk mitigation.

Travel requirements: Up to 10%. Work is generally remote.
