Job summary

Capital One seeks a Director of Technical Program Management (remote-eligible) to drive large-scale initiatives that align technology with business strategy. You will advance TPM maturity, guide cross-functional delivery, and ensure architectural alignment across platforms in a regulated financial context.

You will mentor teams, define roadmaps, and partner with senior leadership to balance speed, cost, and reliability while delivering measurable platform outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs.
• Experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the organization’s TPM / Delivery strategy: establish operating mechanisms, maturity models, and tooling that scale across portfolios.
• Drive development of and alignment on program roadmap anchored in business objectives, definition of done, technical solutions, and sequencing of dependencies.
• Lead cross-platform technical investment planning and ensure architectural alignment toward long-term platform convergence and reuse.
• Serve as an executive-level escalation point for program risks, influencing technology leaders to make data-driven tradeoffs between speed, cost and resiliency.
• Ensure definition of measurable outcomes of platform success (availability, scalability, cost efficiency, developer velocity) and ensure delivery accountability across multiple engineering teams.
