Job summary

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Director of R&D Software Navigation in Boston to lead a growing software team delivering next-gen surgical navigation systems. You will own software architecture, execution, and quality across platforms, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a highly regulated medical device setting.

You will mentor a full-stack team, partner with systems, hardware, clinical, and quality groups, and drive automated testing and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years developing software from concept through release (SaMD experience preferred).
• 7+ years managing a software team of more than 10 developers.
• Experience leading concurrent project teams using Agile-Scrum methodology.
• Proven ability to author technical documentation in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle development of software subsystems for surgical navigation platforms.
• Define and evolve software platform and architecture to ensure scalability, safety, and maintainability.
• Drive architectural reviews, design reviews, and cross-disciplinary technical trade-offs.
• Collaborate with regulatory, quality, and manufacturing teams to meet standards.
