Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer for the Navigation R&D team, located in Boston, MA (and Warsaw, IN). You will generate system requirements, perform risk analysis, and collaborate across hardware, software, and marketing to advance orthopedic robotic platforms.

The role involves cross-disciplinary collaboration, design strategy, and lifecycle support, with a focus on regulatory compliance and MBSE approaches to ensure safe, effective medical devices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering.
• BS in Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics.
• Advanced/Graduate degree preferred.
• Experience with orthopedic medical device product development.
• Experience with surgical navigation or robotics.
• Experience with Design Controls and requirements management in medical devices.
• Experience with ALM systems such as Polarion.

Responsibilities

• Perform requirements management across multi-disciplined teams.
• Conduct system-level risk analysis in a regulated environment.
• Collaborate on system architectures, interfaces and use cases.
• Develop design strategies, diagrams and concepts with cross-functional teams.
• Support regulatory submissions and ensure IEC 60601 compliance.
• Provide systems engineering support for sustaining activities and updates.
• Coordinate with hardware, software, marketing and testing teams throughout product lifecycle.
