Job Description

The McCoy College of Business invites applications for the Director of the McCoy College Student Success Center — a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Dean. In partnership with the Dean, college leadership, faculty, and university student success leaders, the Director will translate the College’s strategic vision into a student success plan for the College, and execute it with rigor, authenticity, and sustained institutional commitment.

Now entering its fourth year, the McCoy College Student Success Center reaches 87% of McCoy College undergraduates, generating over 87,000 student engagements, annually. Built around the McCoy Ready framework and tracked through the Suitable platform, the Center serves more than 6,700 business students, with documented gains in retention, graduation rates, and career placement based on Center assessment data.

McCoy College has established a clear strategic direction for the Center’s next phase — expanding programming and integrated academic initiatives that prepare students across the three domains of academic, professional, and personal growth and success. The incoming Director will develop a rigorous and executable action plan, and lead the Center — its staff, its faculty partnerships, its programs, and its institutional relationships — toward the outcomes the vision defines. The goal is to elevate the Center to a level of demonstrated impact and national recognition that positions it for achieving donor named-center status.

This position reports directly to the Dean of McCoy College of Business, with responsibility for staff and program development and budget oversight, and maintains a close, collaborative working relationship with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. The Director leads the Center’s professional staff, with staffing expected to expand as the Center’s next phase takes shape. It calls for someone who leads with authenticity, engages faculty as genuine partners in student development and shared academic initiatives, and builds trust across a complex institution.

Job Duties
Strategic Leadership
  • Collaborate with college leadership to implement the strategic vision for the Center’s next phase, developing a sequenced, evidence-grounded action plan and leading its execution.
  • Set clear priorities, allocate resources deliberately, and maintain the institutional relationships needed to carry the plan forward.
  • Represent the Center and the Dean’s Office at the college and university level in strategic planning, governance, and academic administration relevant to student success.
  • Partner with college departments and faculty to design shared academic and research initiatives that support student success.
  • Ensure that programming, faculty engagement, assessment, and external reporting function as an integrated system, building a public record of the Center’s impact on student success.
  • Foster collaborations with university student success, career services, student affairs, financial aid, and employer relations to give students access to a coherent, well-resourced support ecosystem, and develop shared programming that advances university and college student success goals.
Operational Management
  • Provide direct supervision to the Center’s professional staff, currently the Academic and Professional Engagement Specialist and the Program Coordinator, with supervisory scope expanding as the Center adds functional leadership roles reporting to this position.
  • Exercise budget authority for the Center’s operating and endowment-supported funds and ensure sound fiscal stewardship across all funding sources.
  • Maintain rigorous, multi-dimensional assessment of Center initiatives, integrating engagement, academic, and career outcome data across platforms and measurement instruments to identify developmental gaps by student population, evaluate which interventions are producing results, and drive programming decisions.
  • Document student development outcomes in support of accreditation, strategic planning, and college-level reporting, including materials aligned with AACSB standards where appropriate.
Student Success
  • Oversee and develop existing college initiatives, such as the McCoy Ready framework and the Suitable student engagement platform, ensuring that programming connects to measurable student competency development throughout the undergraduate experience.
  • Lead co-curricular programming that develops ethical judgment, human communication, and professional responsibility in AI-mediated and technology-intensive work environments.
  • Administer academic support programs — including the pre-business pipeline, early alert system, transfer student integration, and student-alumni mentorship — that address curricular, career, and social barriers to student success.
  • Lead career readiness programming, including workshops on resume preparation, interviewing, graduate school applications, and professional presence, along with business etiquette programming and co-curricular experiences for undergraduate students.
  • Provide intentional programming for first-generation, transfer, and working students, focused on the transition points where these populations are most at risk of disengagement, with targeted support for belonging, purpose, financial stability, academic recovery, and career transition.
  • Create structured opportunities for students to build academic, social, and professional networks through events, mentoring, student organizations, and the Dick Burdick Dean’s Leadership Academy.
Faculty and Institutional Engagement
  • Cultivate authentic, sustained relationships with faculty across McCoy College’s departments, creating regular channels for their engagement in student development beyond the classroom.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop programming that connects disciplinary expertise to student formation and professional readiness.
  • Build credibility with McCoy College’s academic community through substantive participation in governance, planning, and the Center’s intellectual work.
  • Support faculty instructional and scholarly interests related to student success and development.
Community Outreach and Philanthropic Partnership
  • Build and sustain employer, alumni, and community partnerships that expand internship, job placement, and professional network opportunities for students.
  • Partner with the Dean and the McCoy College Foundation to advance the Center’s philanthropic development, serving as a credible institutional voice for its mission and outcomes in donor and partner relationships.
  • Pursue grant opportunities and revenue-generating partnerships that strengthen the Center’s capacity.
Additional Expectations
  • Model the student-centered values the Center exists to advance in direct student interaction, institutional relationships, and personal leadership practice.
  • Manage an established, high-performing operation with discipline while leading strategic evolution and new program development.
  • Maintain a commitment to public accountability — reporting outcomes transparently and adjusting programming when evidence points to stronger approaches.
  • Work outside standard hours when program or event needs require it.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of McCoy College.
