Job Summary
This role is responsible for leading staff and sustaining astudent-ready culture that promotes collaboration, innovation,excellence, and integrity in student development, enrollmentmanagement, academic advising, and campus engagement. Incollaboration with the Vice President of Student Affairs, theDirector provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction forstudent support services as well as promotes initiatives thatenable the delivery of effective and quality service tostudents.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements
- Assists and advises the Vice President of Student Affairsregarding students, personnel, or resource management concerns in atimely manner, while also being responsible for the strategicplanning and operational management of offices and staff within thedepartment
- Oversees the operation and delivery of student success programsand activities to include academic advising
- Provides interpretation, oversight, and guidance in implementingstudent support programs to ensure compliance with internal andexternal regulations
- Collaborates with academic support services, faculty, academicleadership, and campus leadership to develop strategies thatdemonstrate a learning community for all special populations topositively impact enrollment, retention, completion, and increasestudent satisfaction
- Establishes, monitors, and reports on measurable outcomes ofstudent support activities and early and targeted interventions andremediation initiatives
- Coordinates efforts with Academic Affairs to monitor theutilization of academic support services and resources
- Manages departmental budgets and institutional effectivenessplans
- Serves on CARE Team, the college behavior intervention team
- Provides leadership in emergency and crisis situations, includingcommunications to senior and executive level staff.
- Provides leadership and guidance in the analysis, creation, andinterpretation of student policies and procedures; reviews andrecommends policies and procedures in adherence with State andFederal law
- Evaluates emerging assistive technologies and trains and developsthe team as appropriate
General Supervision and Management
- Provides leadership and oversight for departmental activities,including workforce planning, performance management, processimprovement, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Focuses on achieving departmental and organizational objectivesthrough effective management of people, programs, andoperations
- Leads through supervisors and professional staff by establishingpriorities, supporting accountability, and developing teamperformance
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external communityorganizations and associations as assigned to support the essentialperformance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
- Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Five (5) years' working experience related to the EssentialPerformance Requirements in a higher education or universitysetting
- Three (3) years' experience supervising (e.g., managing,evaluating the performance of others; leading projects orprocesses)
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership,Student Affairs, Counseling, or a closely related field
- At least one (1) year's working experience at a community collegerelated to the Essential Performance Requirements
- Two (2) years' working experience in providing leadership foracademic advising or a comprehensive advising/student successoperation, including areas such as degree planning, casemanagement, pathway-based advising, academic progress, studentreferrals, or proactive advising interventions
- Three (3) years' of leadership experience in higher education,including experience supervising professional staff and overseeingthe operations of a department or functional area
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and buildingeffective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening,verbal, and written communication skills
- Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems,including the Microsoft Office suite and the Microsoft 365platform
- Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlesslyensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strongattention to detail and organization
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of ateam in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff,and external stakeholders
- Ability to identify routine issues and escrow non-standardproblems using established procedures in a fast-paced workenvironment
- Ability to review basic information and follow policies,procedures, and guidelines when completing assigned tasks
- Ability to coordinate assigned work and communicate effectivelywith faculty and staff to support campus and departmentaloperations
- Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuringconfidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidentialinformation
- Knowledge of theories of student development, student engagement,student success, and career development
- Knowledge of current practices in student affairs and highereducation to include proper methods and resources for compliance,disabilities covered under ADA, student disciplinary actions andthe Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Knowledge of strategic enrollment management principles and bestpractices in student affairs

Work Environment

While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanicalparts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. Thenoise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
