Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Director, Strategic Sourcing - Gas and Power to lead the gas and fuel cell equipment purchasing strategy for AES Renewables & Power. This role partners with multiple AES teams to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective equipment supply for projects, with travel ~30% and flexible location.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in gas/power, strong negotiation and vendor-management skills, and a proven ability to drive sourcing strategy across complex programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/Procurement/Sourcing, Legal, Business, Administration or Engineering or other technical field from accredited entity.
• Minimum 10 years of gas and power-related experience.
• 5+ years managing a team.
• Strong negotiations skills with contract negotiation experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead gas-generation contracting efforts across AES' Renewables & Power businesses and negotiate strategic supply agreements.
• Establish and cultivate strategic relationships with equipment vendors and develop a robust purchasing strategy.
• Establish and maintain sourcing and procurement processes for new generation projects and major maintenance.
• Develop understanding of technology trends, energy market forces, and supplier road maps.
• Partner with Engineering, Construction, and Development teams to deliver equipment safely and timely.
• Review purchase orders and contracts for conformance to policy and address defects with suppliers.
• Define sourcing strategies with project teams, exploring alternate sources and cost-effective solutions.
• Foster partnerships to achieve Strategic Sourcing and AES goals.
