Job summary

AES Corporation in Louisville, CO seeks a Director, Strategic Sourcing - Gas and Power to lead the gas and fuel cell equipment purchasing for the Renewables & Power business. You will develop strategy, negotiate with suppliers, and partner with project teams to ensure safe, timely, and cost‑effective equipment delivery.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in gas and power, strong leadership, and proven ability to build supplier networks and manage total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field or business-related discipline.
• 10+ years of gas and power-related experience.
• 5+ years of managing a team.
• Strong contract negotiation skills and experience.
• Financial analysis skills including cash-flow, NPV, IRR.
• Ability to build consensus in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
• Extensive supplier network and strategic partnerships.
• Experience sourcing power plant/utility equipment and services.
• Experience developing Total Cost of Ownership models.
• Proficient with MS Office and related software.

Responsibilities

• Lead gas-generation contracting efforts and negotiate strategic supply agreements.
• Build and maintain relationships with equipment vendors; define a robust purchasing strategy.
• Set up best-in-class sourcing processes for new generation and major maintenance projects.
• Monitor technology trends, energy market forces, and supplier roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, and Development to deliver equipment safely and on time.
• Review POs and contracts for policy conformance; resolve delivery issues with suppliers.
• Define sourcing strategies across AES businesses, including alternative sources.
• Foster internal and external partnerships to meet Strategic Sourcing goals.
