Job summary

AbbVie in the United States seeks a Director, BESD to lead development and execution of forward-looking strategies shaping US pharma price reform. You will collaborate across Government Affairs, Market Access, Legal, Finance, and Corporate Affairs to align on enterprise goals.

This role requires deep policy and business acumen, exceptional communication, and the ability to influence senior leaders while advancing cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 6–8 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, public policy, market access, or business strategy, with a pharma company, healthcare consulting firm, government agency, or think tank.
• Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in strategically and creatively shaping policy and business outcomes.
• Exceptional communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills; ability to influence without authority; strong organizational skills.
• Well-honed political sensitivities and utmost integrity, with executive presence and acumen necessary to engage senior leaders and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Initiatives: Spearhead the development and execution of innovative and competitive strategies that integrate environment shaping with business readiness to navigate pharmaceutical price reform in the US today and in the future, collaborating tirelessly with cross-functional and external experts.
• Strategic Collaboration: Partner with critical stakeholders across Government Affairs, Market Access, Legal, Finance, and Corporate Affairs across geographies to ensure cohesive alignment toward enterprise goals, driving strategies forward to achieve targeted objectives and milestones.
• Environmental Analysis and Horizon Scanning: Monitor external political, regulatory, legislative, and market dynamics and develop impactful insight reports on evolving themes to foster innovative solutions and strategic decision making.
• Business Value Evaluation: Identify opportunities to deliver actionable recommendations that enhance competitiveness and business impact, supporting the building of compelling business cases to accelerate strategic solutions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Develop effective presentations that enable strategic communication of issues, pivotal updates, and business cases to cross-functional leaders, maintaining productive relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and preparedness.
