Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in the United States is seeking a Director of Site Communications for the Human Health Manufacturing division.

This role leads a US-wide team, shapes communications strategy across multiple sites, and partners with senior leaders to drive employee engagement, safety, quality and regulatory compliance. The role requires 8+ years in pharma/healthcare communications, demonstrated crisis expertise, and strong cross-functional collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, journalism, marketing, or related field.
• 8+ years of communications experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, med tech, biotech or similarly regulated industries.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, operations or supply chain environments is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record in issues management and crisis communications in a manufacturing or operational context.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of four U.S. HH site communicators across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and Delaware.
• Manage high-visibility, sensitive communications and coordinate with senior leaders, legal and corporate affairs.
• Develop integrated site communications strategies aligned with global Manufacturing Division priorities.
• Collaborate with HR, Operations, EHS, Quality and local teams to support change, engagement and leadership visibility.
• Coordinate external communications with local media, government, NGOs and stakeholders.
