Job summary

Associated Press is seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Cyber Engineering to lead security across product security, infrastructure and cloud security. You will manage a team of engineers, set technical direction, and translate strategy into scalable platforms and controls.

The role emphasizes partnering with Technology, newsroom and business teams to embed security by default, drive governance, and modernize network and cloud security across AP’s global footprint.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in security engineering, security architecture or infrastructure engineering, including 4+ years leading teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Deep hands-on experience in product security, cloud and infrastructure security, cloud governance or network security.
• Experience in major public cloud environments and hybrid infrastructure.
• Strong grounding in application security and DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a security engineering roadmap across products, infrastructure, cloud and network security.
• Own security architecture standards and reference designs for cloud, on‑premises and network environments.
• Lead security models like zero trust and least-privilege access.
• Embed security into the software development lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and grow a high-performing security engineering team.
