Job summary

Greater Burlington YMCA seeks a Director of School Age Programs to lead a multi-site network of after-school programs and summer camps across Vermont. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on field support and requires frequent site travel to observe, train staff, and ensure quality and licensing compliance.

You will mentor Site Directors, manage budgets and state grants, recruit staff, and partner with schools and families to expand access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Education or related field preferred.
• Vermont Teacher License or equivalent credential or 20+ months of school-age work experience.
• Minimum 5 years with school-age children; 1+ year with diverse abilities.
• 2+ years of progressive leadership and supervisory experience with licensing audits.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership to grow and sustain afterschool and summer camp programs; manage grants and budgets.
• Recruit, onboard and mentor Site Directors and staff; uphold YMCA core values.
• Provide hands-on field support with site visits and trainings.
• Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and quality standards; lead audits.
• Engage with schools, families and community partners to expand impact.
